Glorifying God Through Our Time, Talent, and Treasure

Good morning, and a blessed Thursday morning to you!

Would you open up your Bibles, please, to 1 Chronicles, the 29th chapter? 1 Chronicles chapter 29, and we'll begin with verse 10.

There we read:

“Then David blessed the Lord in the presence of all the assembly.” David said: “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. For all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all. And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.”

The glorification of God is the chief purpose for which we were created. We were created to bring Him glory. Everything belongs to Him!  Scripture tells us in Colossians, the fourth chapter, to conduct ourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time.

First Peter, chapter 4, tells us that, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God, we are to serve one another with whatever gift each of us has received.

And Malachi, the third chapter, says:

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test,” says the Lord of hosts. “See if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.”

With our time, with our talent, and with our treasure, we bring glory to God.

This coming Sunday is a special and important day in the life of our congregation. We'll be receiving our pledges of time, talent, and treasure for 2027.  All that we can do in 2027 is linked to this outpouring of pledges of time, talent, and treasure. So may I encourage you to return the materials that were sent to you? If you can't be here on Sunday, please mail them in.

If you're going to be here Sunday, we're going to dedicate those pledges to the glory of God at both worship services. And if it's easier for you, or if you're unable to be here this Sunday, you can simply go online and do it all there.  For what we can do in 2027 is absolutely linked to these pledges of time, talent, and treasure.

We have a glorious Gospel to proclaim! Through the cross of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. We have been redeemed. The tomb of our Lord is empty. Death has been overcome! God opens up for us the windows of heaven. He comes and claims us as His own in the waters of baptism. He calls us His child so that we might spend forever with Him in the beauty of heaven.  What a glorious, glorious message to proclaim!  And may we be able to glorify God by casting even more seed of the Gospel in 2027.  Everything is linked. Everything is linked to those pledges. From our missionaries to our missions, from our preschool to our programs—it's all linked.

May we bring glory to God in 2027 through the stewardship of time, talent, and treasure.

Let's pray.

Gracious Heavenly Father, we lift before You this Response Sunday. We ask, O Lord, for a great harvest. We thank You for Your promises that give us certainty, and we pray, Father, for a great response to Your glory. May You be praised, in Jesus' name.  Amen.

God bless you today. Encourage someone!
