Good morning, and a most blessed Thursday to you.

In our time of devotion this morning, I want to share a very interesting story of ministry with you. It’s not my own personal story, but I think it really speaks to the day and age in which we live.

At the Texas District gathering for the LCMC Texas District just last month, one of the keynote speakers shared an experience he had while teaching a confirmation class. He asked for a volunteer to read, and a student raised his hand. The pastor gave him a verse to look up, and the student began searching on his Bible app. Suddenly, the student stopped, looked up, and said, “My Bible died.” Of course, it was his phone that had died—but how interesting that he depended on his phone for his Bible, and when the phone died, so did his Bible.

Now, we know that God’s Word never dies. We have the promise that it never dies. In Hebrews 4:12 we read: “Indeed, the word of God is living and active.” God’s Word is always at work. It does what it says it will do. It does not return to Him empty, but it goes out and bears fruit.

We have the sure promise that God’s Word never dies. It will last forever and ever. And this is good news for you and me—and for anyone we share it with—because it is the one promise we can stand on. What God says in His Word to you and to me stands eternally.

And what does He say in His Word? He tells us that we are sinners. He tells us that all our efforts and ideas on our own are for nothing. Yet He also tells us in His Word that He made a plan for our sin—a plan to redeem us. He fulfilled that plan by coming into creation Himself in the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ. Jesus bore our sin on the cross, forgave us, and rose triumphantly from the grave, victorious over sin, death, and the devil. And so we can stand on this promise. We can read God’s Word and we can hear God’s Word, and we know that God’s Word will never die. His promise is eternal for you. That promise is life eternal, given to you by His grace, through His mercy, and in His love.

The good news is that God’s Word has never died, never will die, and will continue calling you back again and again—transforming, molding, and shaping you more and more into the child of God you were created to be.

Let’s pray.
Heavenly Lord, we thank You so much for Your Word. Your Word is truth. Your Word is eternal. Your Word is never-ending. It will never die, and we thank You for that. Lord, help us to rest in the assurance of the promise we have in Your Word. Keep Your Word in our minds, plant it deep within our hearts, and place it on our lips so that we may share the good news of salvation through faith in You and You alone. May we proclaim Your living Word everywhere we go, with everyone we meet. Use us to share the good news of life in You. Use us to share the good news that is Your Word.

Lord, we lift this prayer to You in the blessed and holy name of Jesus Christ.

I hope you have a great rest of your week. I look forward to gathering around God’s holy, living, active Word with you in worship this Sunday. Until then, God bless.
